Gifts are accepted by the Board of Directors under Article 10 of the UMASDA, Inc. Amended and Restated Bylaws; this policy sets the standards for acceptance.
This Gift Acceptance Policy governs the acceptance of gifts made to UMASDA, Inc. in support of its 501(c)(3) mission, and provides guidance to donors and their advisors.
Gifts Generally Accepted
Cash and checks, electronic and card payments, and gifts of tangible personal property useful to the organization’s mission (subject to review).
Gifts Requiring Review
Non-cash gifts, gifts with restrictions or conditions, and any gift that may create legal, financial, reputational, or administrative burden must be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors (or its designee) before acceptance.
Gifts Not Accepted
UMASDA, Inc. will decline gifts that are inconsistent with its mission, that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status, or that impose unacceptable conditions.
Donor Acknowledgment
UMASDA, Inc. provides written acknowledgment of gifts as required by IRS rules. UMASDA, Inc. does not provide tax or legal advice; donors should consult their own advisors regarding deductibility and valuation.
